Tissue Regeneration Analysis

Tissue regeneration analysis is the systematic evaluation of how damaged or lost tissue repairs, regrows, and restores function, making it central to biology and regenerative medicine. It combines measurements of cell proliferation and differentiation with assessments of extracellular matrix remodeling, tissue architecture, and functional recovery across defined time points. Researchers use approaches such as microscopy, histological staining, and molecular assays to compare regeneration between conditions or treatments. These analyses clarify the cellular and molecular basis of repair, identify factors that improve healing, and support the development of tissue-engineering strategies and regenerative therapies.

Tissue Regeneration with Somatic Stem Cells

2023

Somatic or adult stem cells, like embryonic stem cells, are capable of self-renewal but demonstrate a restricted differentiation potential. Nonetheless, these cells are crucial to homeostatic processes and play an important role in tissue repair. By studying and manipulating this cell population, scientist may be able to develop new regenerative therapies for injuries and diseases. This video first defines somatic stem cells, and then explores the role these cells play in tissue regeneration.

2011

In newt, the lens regenerates always from the dorsal iris by transdifferentiation of the iris pigmented epithelial cells (IPEs). Here we describe a procedure to culture dorsal and ventral newt IPE cells and their implantation to the newt eye. The implanted cells are then studied by tissue sectioning and immunohistochemistry.

In this work, we present a technique for the rapid fabrication of living vascular tissues by direct culturing of collagen, smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells. In addition, a new protocol for the mechanical characterization of engineered vascular tissues is described.

Neurogenesis and Regeneration of Nervous Tissue

2025

In the CNS, neurogenesis, the birth of new neurons from stem cells, is limited to the hippocampus in adults. In other regions of the brain and spinal cord, neurogenesis is almost non-existent due to inhibitory influences from neuroglia, especially oligodendrocytes, and the absence of growth-stimulating cues. The myelin produced by oligodendrocytes in the CNS inhibits neuronal regeneration. Furthermore, astrocytes proliferate rapidly after neuronal damage, forming scar tissue that physically...

Stem Cell Therapy for Tissue Regeneration

2023

Stem cell therapy is a method used in regenerative medicine to repair and restore function to damaged tissues and organs. Stem cells have the potential to proliferate and differentiate into various tissue types, making them ideal candidates for tissue regeneration. For example, hematopoietic stem cell transplants are commonly used in blood cancer treatment to replenish damaged bone marrow and restore healthy blood cells. Types of Stem Cells used in Stem Cell Therapy The two main cell types that...
