Polycarbonate Membrane Filter

Polycarbonate membrane filters are thin, microporous membranes used to separate particles, cells, or microorganisms from fluids according to size, making them useful for controlled sample preparation and analysis. Their uniform, cylindrical pores are formed by track etching, in which radiation-damaged paths in polycarbonate are chemically enlarged to create defined openings; filtration then occurs as fluid passes through while larger components are retained. In developmental biology, these filters can support cell separation, remove debris, or provide reproducible interfaces for studying cell migration and interactions under defined conditions. Their optical clarity, dimensional stability, and tunable pore size also aid imaging and experimental consistency.

Construction Methods for Hybrid Polycarbonate-Silicon Microfluidic Devices

2026

This protocol describes three straightforward sealing methods for fabricating a hybrid microfluidic device that integrates polycarbonate and silicon components. By implementing solvent bonding, thermal compression, and mechanical compression strategies, we enable reliable, low-temperature sealing techniques that avoid specialized equipment for hybrid microfluidic devices.

2024

Passive filters are utilized to shape the frequency spectrum of signals across a diverse array of applications. These filters, using only passive elements like resistors (R), inductors (L), and capacitors (C), are capable of selectively allowing or blocking certain frequency ranges without the need for external power sources. Low-Pass Filters Low-pass filters are designed to transmit signals with frequencies lower than the cutoff frequency, ωc, and attenuate those above it. The cutoff frequency...
