Microrna Target Genes

MicroRNA target genes are genes whose expression is regulated by small, noncoding microRNAs, making them important components of post-transcriptional gene control in genetics. A microRNA guides the RNA-induced silencing complex to complementary sequences, typically in a messenger RNA’s 3′ untranslated region, where seed-region pairing promotes translational repression or mRNA destabilization and degradation. Identifying these targets helps researchers map regulatory networks that influence development, differentiation, disease, and cellular responses. Target-gene analysis also supports studies of genetic variation, biomarker discovery, and therapeutic strategies involving microRNA pathways.

Recombineering and Gene Targeting

One of the most widely used tools in modern biology is molecular cloning with restriction enzymes, which create compatible ends between DNA fragments that allow them to be joined together. However, this technique has certain restrictions that limit its applicability for large or complex DNA construct generation. A newer technique that addresses some of these shortcomings is recombineering, which modifies DNA using homologous recombination (HR), the exchange between different DNA molecules based...

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are important regulators of gene expression and have been shown to play a role in numerous biological processes. To better understand miRNA-UTR interactions, we have created a genome-wide collection of 3 UTR luciferase reporters paired with a novel luciferase gene and assay reagent, the LightSwitch system.
