Organoid Derived Culture

Organoid-derived culture is a laboratory model generated from three-dimensional organoids to study tissue structure and function in a controlled environment. Researchers dissociate or transfer organoid cells into defined culture conditions, where they retain organ-specific characteristics while enabling access to individual cell populations, host receptors, and tissue barriers. In immunology and infection research, these cultures help examine pathogen entry and replication, epithelial or immune-cell responses, and interactions between host tissues and microbes. They can support mechanistic studies, therapeutic testing, and personalized disease modeling while providing a more physiologically relevant alternative to conventional cell lines.

Three-Dimensional Culture Systems: Spheroids and Organoids

2026

Three-dimensional (3D) culture systems, including spheroids and organoids, support New Approach Methodology (NAM)-aligned research by providing more physiologically relevant models than conventional two-dimensional cell cultures. Because they more closely resemble the structure and cellular interactions of tissues and organs, these systems can provide physiologically relevant data before advancing to animal studies. Spheroids as Disease and Drug Screening Models Spheroids are generated when one...
