Preadipocyte Formation

Preadipocyte formation is the biological process that generates immature adipocyte precursor cells from mesenchymal progenitors, establishing the cellular foundation for adipose tissue development and remodeling. During adipogenesis, progenitor cells receive differentiation signals and activate transcriptional regulators such as C/EBP proteins and PPARγ, which commit them to the preadipocyte lineage before lipid accumulation and maturation. In immunology and infection research, this process helps explain how expanding or injured adipose tissue interacts with immune cells, inflammatory cytokines, and microbial challenges. Studying preadipocyte formation can clarify links between adipose development, chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and host responses to infection.

Here, we present a protocol for encapsulation of catabolic cells, which consume lipids for heat production in intra-abdominal adipose tissue and increase energy dissipation in obese mice.

Exogenous Mitochondrial Transfer in Differentiating Brown Adipocytes and AGPAT2-Deficient Preadipocytes

2026

Exogenous mitochondria of human and murine origin can be internalized by differentiating preadipocytes and tracked throughout adipogenic differentiation using imaging and genetic tools. While these mitochondria physically interact with the endogenous mitochondrial network, they do not increase the expression of markers associated with mature brown adipocytes.

The present protocol describes a simple method for isolating preadipocytes from adipose tissue in broiler embryos. This method enables isolation with high yield, primary culture, and adipogenic differentiation of preadipocytes. Oil Red O staining and lipid/DNA stain measured the adipogenic ability of isolated cells induced with differentiation media.

This report describes a protocol for the simultaneous isolation of primary brown and white preadipocytes from newborn mice. Isolated cells can be grown in culture and induced to differentiate into fully mature white and brown adipocytes. The method enables genetic, molecular, and functional characterization of primary fat cells in culture.

Solution Formation

There is no one solvent that can dissolve every type of solute. Some substances that readily dissolve in a certain solvent might be insoluble in a different solvent. A simple way to predict which substances dissolve in which solvent is the phrase "like dissolves like". This means that polar substances, such as salt and sugar, dissolve in a polar substance like water. In contrast, non-polar substances are more soluble in non-polar solvents such as carbon tetrachloride. This selective solubility...
