Viral Tropism Regulation

Viral tropism regulation is the control of which host cells, tissues, or species a virus can infect, a key determinant of disease distribution and transmission. Tropism depends on coordinated barriers and signals, including viral attachment to compatible cell-surface receptors, entry-factor availability, intracellular conditions that support genome replication, and host antiviral responses that restrict infection. In immunology and infection research, analyzing these determinants clarifies how viruses establish tissue-specific disease, evade immune defenses, and adapt to new hosts. It also supports the development of antiviral therapies, vaccines, entry inhibitors, and experimental models for predicting changes in viral pathogenicity and host range.

GTPases and their Regulation

2020

Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G-proteins), also known as GTPases, are a superfamily of proteins that regulate many cellular processes, such as cell signaling, vesicular transport, and the regulation of cell shape and motility. Mutation or dysfunction of these proteins can lead to disease. There are around 40,000 known G-proteins that can broadly be classified into two groups ‒ small G-proteins consisting of a single domain and large multi-domain G-proteins. Large G-proteins, also known...

We describe the process of isolating high purity herpesvirus nucleocapsid DNA from infected cells. The final DNA captured from solution is of high concentration and purity, making it ideally suited for high-throughput sequencing, high fidelity PCR reactions, and transfections to produce new viral recombinants.
