Cd146 Affinity Column

A CD146 affinity column is a specialized chromatography tool that selectively captures CD146, also known as melanoma cell adhesion molecule, or molecules that specifically bind it from a complex biological sample. The column contains an immobilized CD146 ligand, such as an antibody or binding partner; during purification, target molecules interact with the ligand while unrelated components pass through, and controlled changes in buffer conditions release the bound material. In medicine, this approach supports CD146 protein or antibody purification, biomarker characterization, and investigation of endothelial, vascular, and tumor-associated biology. It can improve sample specificity and provide reagents for diagnostic and therapeutic research.

Column Chromatography Multiple techniques exist to purify and separate compounds in an organic chemistry laboratory. One of the most reliable separation techniques for microscale separations, where less than 10 grams of the compound is available for analysis, is column chromatography. This technique separates compounds in a mixture based on their physical properties, such as their solubility, polarity, hydrophobicity, size, and charge. Chromatography Basics The main components of any...

First, you'll use 95% ethanol to elute the dye with a weaker affinity for silica gel. Then, you'll flush the second dye from the column with water. To recover the purified dyes, you will collect each...

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Jimmy Franco - Merrimack College Column chromatography is one of the most useful techniques for purifying compounds. This technique utilizes a stationary phase, which is packed in a column, and a mobile phase that passes through the column. This technique exploits the differences in polarity between compounds, allowing the molecules to be facilely separated.1 The two most common stationary phases for column chromatography are silica gel (SiO2) and alumina (Al2O3), with...

Electron Affinity

2020

The electron affinity (EA) is the energy change for adding an electron to a gaseous atom to form an anion (negative ion). This process can be either endothermic or exothermic, depending on the element. Many of these elements have negative values of EA, which means that energy is released when the gaseous atom accepts an electron. However, for some elements, energy is required for the atom to become negatively charged, and the value of their EA is positive. Just as with ionization energy,...
