Therapeutic Response Assessment

Therapeutic response assessment is the systematic evaluation of how a patient’s disease, symptoms, or biological measurements change after treatment, helping determine whether an intervention is effective and appropriate. Clinicians compare baseline findings with follow-up results using measures such as symptom scores, physical examinations, laboratory values, imaging, or other validated endpoints, while considering treatment timing and expected response criteria. In medicine, this process supports decisions to continue, adjust, or change therapy and helps distinguish improvement from stable disease, progression, or adverse effects. Standardized assessment also strengthens clinical research by enabling consistent comparisons of treatment outcomes across patients and studies.

Establishing Cell Lines Overexpressing DR3 to Assess the Apoptotic Response to Anti-mitotic Therapeutics

2019

Establishing a stable cell line overexpressing a gene of interest to study gene function can be done by stable transfection-picking single clones after transfecting them via retroviral infection. Here we show that HT29-DR3 cell lines generated in this way elucidate the mechanisms by which death receptor 3 (DR3) contributes to antimitotics-induced apoptosis.

2015

We describe methods for longitudinal monitoring of the efficacy of therapeutics for the treatment of colonic pathologies in mice using a rigid endoscope. This protocol can be readily used for the characterization of the therapeutic response of an individual tumor in live mice and also for monitoring potential disease relapse.

Clinically Relevant Transplantable Tumor Models for Studying Metastatic Ovarian Cancer and Therapeutic Response in Mouse

2026

Here we present a step-by-step protocol for establishing the intraperitoneal and the intrabursal tumor models to study ovarian cancer cancer progression, metasatsis, and therapeutic response. Further, we describe how to use luciferase-based non-invasive in vivo imaging in these models to monitor tumor progression in mouse.

The Use of Fluorescent Target Arrays for Assessment of T Cell Responses In vivo

The ability to monitor T cell responses in detail in vivo is important for the development of our understanding of the immune response. Here we describe the use of fluorescent target arrays (FTAs) in an in vivo T cell assay that assesses >250 parameters simultaneously by flow cytometry.
