Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a manual treatment for myofascial pain that targets localized, hypersensitive areas within tight bands of skeletal muscle, which may produce pain at the site or in referred regions. Practitioners apply sustained pressure, massage, stretching, and movement to the affected tissue, aiming to reduce muscle tension, interrupt abnormal pain signaling, and restore mobility. The approach is used in managing conditions involving the neck, shoulders, back, and other regions with muscle-related pain or restricted range of motion. As part of a broader rehabilitation plan, it may support functional recovery and guide assessment of musculoskeletal pain.

Triggering a Closed-Loop Stimulation by Neuron Spiking Activity

2025

This video demonstrates the operation of closed-loop stimulation in a rat with a surgically implanted device to record neural activity. Neuronal signals are first recorded and analyzed. Template waveforms are then uploaded, and parameters are defined to trigger closed-loop stimulation.

RNA interference (RNAi) is an extremely valuable tool for uncovering gene function. However, the ability to target genes using RNAi during pre-adult stages is limited in the major human malaria vector Anopheles gambiae. We describe an RNAi protocol to reduce gene function via direct injection during pupal development.

An efficient method to gain insights into visualizing the paracrine-derived ROS induction of endothelial Ca2+ signaling is described. This method takes advantage of measuring paracrine derived ROS triggered Ca2+ mobilization in vascular endothelial cells in a co-culture model.

Real-Time Electroencephalography-Triggered Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Cortical Excitation

Source: Stefanou, M., et.al. Brain State-dependent Brain Stimulation with Real-time Electroencephalography-Triggered Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. J. Vis. Exp. (2019)This video demonstrates the process of real-time EEG-triggered transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to study cortical excitability. The procedure involves positioning the TMS coil over the motor cortex, synchronizing stimulation with specific phases of the EEG signal, and recording motor-evoked potentials (MEPs) to explore...
