Neonatal Mouse Brain Isolation

Neonatal Mouse Brain Isolation is a dissection technique used to remove and preserve the brain from newborn mice for controlled neuroscience research. The procedure relies on careful separation of the brain from surrounding skull and meningeal tissues while minimizing mechanical damage, contamination, and loss of anatomical structure. Researchers can then use the isolated tissue for primary neural cell culture, histological analysis, molecular assays, or examination of early brain development. As a foundational preparation, this method supports studies of neurogenesis, neural differentiation, brain injury, and disease mechanisms, while providing tissue suited to reproducible downstream experiments.

Primary mouse cardiomyocyte cultures are one of the pivotal tools for the investigation of myofibrillar organization and function. The following protocol describes the isolation and culture of primary cardiomyocytes from neonatal mouse hearts. The resulting cardiomyocyte cultures may be subsequently used for a variety of biomechanical, biochemical and cell-biological assays.

We performed unilateral carotid artery occlusion on postnatal day 7-10 CD-1 mouse pups to create a neonatal hypoxic-ischemic (HI) model and investigated the effects of HI brain injury. We studied neurobehavioral functions in these mice compared to non-operated normal mice.

Neonatal Mouse Ovary Isolation: A Surgical Procedure to Harvest Pair of Ovaries from Neonatal Mouse Model

Epidermal keratinocytes form a functional skin barrier and are positioned at the front line of host defense against external environmental insults. Here we describe methods for isolation and primary culture of epidermal keratinocytes from neonatal and adult mouse skin, and induction of terminal differentiation and UVB-triggered inflammatory response from keratinocytes.

Obtaining a Mixed Glial Cell Culture from a Neonatal Mouse Brain
