Ön Bölme

Ön kompartman kasları humerustan kaynaklanır. Öncelikle fleksör olarak işlev görürler ve aynı zamanda fleksör kaslar olarak da bilinirler. Tipik olarak el bileği, metakarpal ve falanjlara yapışırlar. Yüzeysel katman, fleksör karpi radialis, palmaris longus ve fleksör karpi ulnaris'i içerir. Bunların altında ön koldaki en büyük yüzeysel kaslardan biri olan ve parmakların esnemesinde çok önemli bir rol oynayan fleksör rakamsal yüzeysel kas bulunur. Derin ön bölmede iki kas vardır. Flexor pollicis longus, başparmağın distal falanksının fleksiyonundan sorumludur. Ancak fleksör dijitorum profundus, parmakların distal falankslarına yapışan dört tendonla biter.

Arka Bölme

Arka kompartman kasları humerustan kaynaklanır ve öncelikle ekstansör olarak görev yapar. Yüzeysel katman, ekstansör karpi radialis longus, ekstansör karpi radialis brevis, ekstansör rakamı, ekstansör rakamı minimi ve ekstansör karpi ulnaris'i içerir. Ekstansör dijitorum ön kolun arka yüzeyinin önemli bir bölümünü kaplar ve parmakların orta ve distal falankslarına yapışan dört tendona ayrılır. Ekstansör karpi ulnaris bu grupta medialde bulunur. Derin arka bölmede dört kas vardır: abductor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, extensor pollicis longus ve extensor indicis. Bu kaslar başparmağın ve parmakların uzatılmasında çok önemli bir rol oynar.

Retinakulum

Bu ön kol kaslarının bileğe bağlanan veya elin içine doğru devam eden tendonları, güçlü fasyalarla kemiklere yakın tutulur. Tendon kılıfları tendonları çevreleyerek koruma sağlar ve sürtünmeyi azaltır. Bilekteki derin fasya, tendonları yerinde tutan, retinakula adı verilen fibröz bantları oluşturur. The forearm muscles that move the wrist, hand, and fingers are grouped into anterior and posterior compartments. These muscles work together to bend, straighten, and stabilize the hand and digits. They also connect to the bones of the wrist and hand in organized layers.

The anterior compartment contains the flexor muscles. These muscles usually start at the humerus and attach to the carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges. The superficial layer includes the flexor carpi radialis, palmaris longus, and flexor carpi ulnaris. Beneath them is the flexor digitorum superficialis, a large superficial muscle that helps flex the fingers.

The deep anterior compartment has two muscles. The flexor pollicis longus flexes the distal phalanx of the thumb. The flexor digitorum profundus ends in four tendons that attach to the distal phalanges of the fingers.

The posterior compartment contains the extensor muscles. These muscles also begin on the humerus and mainly straighten the wrist and digits. The superficial layer includes the extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, extensor digitorum, extensor digiti minimi, and extensor carpi ulnaris. The extensor digitorum covers much of the back of the forearm and splits into four tendons that attach to the middle and distal phalanges of the fingers.

The deep posterior compartment includes four muscles. These are the abductor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis brevis, extensor pollicis longus, and extensor indicis. Together, they help extend the thumb and fingers. The extensor carpi ulnaris sits on the medial side of this group.

Strong fasciae keep the tendons close to the bones, and tendon sheaths reduce friction. At the wrist, the deep fascia forms retinacula, which are fibrous bands that hold the tendons in place. The flexor retinaculum lies on the palm side of the carpal bones and forms the carpal tunnel, where the median nerve and the tendons of the flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor digitorum profundus, and flexor pollicis longus pass. On the back of the wrist, the extensor retinaculum holds the extensor tendons of the wrist and digits.
