Imaging Platform

An imaging platform is an integrated system of instruments, reagents, software, and analytical methods used to capture and interpret visual information from biological samples. In immunology and infection research, platforms commonly combine light, fluorescence, or electron microscopy with fluorescent labels, time-lapse acquisition, and image-processing algorithms to track immune cells, pathogens, and molecular markers under defined conditions. These capabilities enable researchers to measure cell behavior, pathogen localization, tissue damage, and host responses while preserving spatial and temporal context. Imaging platforms support infection diagnosis, immune-response studies, drug evaluation, and the development of quantitative, high-content approaches to understanding host-pathogen interactions.

Time Multiplexing Super Resolving Technique for Imaging from a Moving Platform

2014

A method for overcoming the optical diffraction limit is presented. The method includes a two-step process: optical phase retrieval using iterative Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, and imaging system shifting followed by repetition of the first step. A synthetically increased lens aperture is generated along the direction of movement, yielding higher imaging resolution.

This article demonstrates how to culture Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings in a two-layer microfluidic platform that confines the main root and root hairs to a single optical plane. This platform can be used for real-time optical imaging of fine root morphology as well as for high-resolution imaging by other means.
