Release Profile Analysis

Release profile analysis is the quantitative characterization of how a substance becomes available from a formulation, delivery system, or biological material over time. It typically measures released material at defined intervals under controlled conditions, producing a time-dependent profile that can reveal rapid release, sustained delivery, or incomplete release. In immunology and infection research, this analysis helps evaluate systems designed to deliver antimicrobial agents, vaccines, cytokines, or other immune-modulating compounds. Comparing release profiles supports optimization of dose timing, exposure, stability, and therapeutic performance, while linking material behavior to biological responses and experimental outcomes.

2010

This article describes a protocol for the extraction of translating ribosomes from eukaryotic cells. Once extracted, ribosomes are separated into monosomes and polyribosomes by sucrose gradient fractionation to allow different ribosomal populations to be analyzed. As such, this method is the gold standard for examining the regulation of translation.

Zebrafish represent a powerful vertebrate model that has been under-utilised for metabolic studies. Here we describe a rapid way to measure the in vivo metabolic profile of developing zebrafish that allows the comparison of different mitochondrial function parameters between genetically or pharmacologically manipulated embryos, thereby increasing the applicability of this organism.

We illustrate the application of 1H(15N,αγ)12C resonant nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) to quantitatively evaluate the density of hydrogen atoms on the surface, in the volume, and at an interfacial layer of solid materials. The near-surface hydrogen depth profiling of a Pd(110) single crystal and of SiO2/Si(100) stacks is described.
