Electrophysiological Response Mapping

Electrophysiological response mapping is a neuroscience method that measures and localizes changes in electrical activity produced by neural stimulation or sensory input. Researchers place electrodes or other electrical recording sensors to capture evoked responses, then compare signal timing and amplitude across recording sites to construct spatial and temporal maps of neural function. This approach can reveal how brain regions communicate, identify functional pathways, and distinguish normal from altered activity. Electrophysiological response mapping supports studies of sensory processing, motor control, neural circuits, and brain disorders, while also informing research on neural interfaces and stimulation-based therapies.
