Fluorescent Dna Substrate

A fluorescent DNA substrate is a DNA molecule linked to a fluorescent label, allowing researchers to monitor DNA interactions and enzymatic activity through changes in light emission. When an enzyme binds, modifies, copies, unwinds, or cleaves the labeled DNA, the fluorophore’s signal can change as its chemical environment or distance from a quencher changes. These substrates support sensitive assays of nucleases, polymerases, helicases, DNA repair proteins, and other DNA-processing enzymes. In biology, they help quantify reaction rates, characterize molecular mechanisms, screen potential inhibitors, and visualize DNA-related processes using fluorescence-based detection.
