She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) in 2012 from Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China. Then she moved to Belfast and received her Ph.D. in 2017 from Queen's University Belfast under the supervision of Prof. Heping Xu, with a thesis titled Metabolic control of microglial activation - the role of glucose transporter 1. She started her postdoctoral training with Dr. Asmis at Wake Forest School of Medicine since 2018.
