Stable Cell Lines

Stable cell lines are populations of cells engineered to maintain a desired genetic modification and express it consistently over many passages, making them valuable for reproducible laboratory research. They are typically generated by introducing foreign DNA or genome-editing components, selecting cells that retain the modification, and expanding individual clones under controlled culture conditions. In immunology and infection research, stable cell lines can produce immune receptors, cytokines, viral entry factors, or reporter proteins for studying host-pathogen interactions, screening therapeutics, and measuring cellular responses. Their consistent genotype and phenotype improve experimental comparability while reducing variability between assays.

A rapid and simple way to generate human cell lines with inducible and reversible cDNA overexpression or shRNA-mediated knock-down of the gene of interest. This method enables researchers to reliably and highly reproducibly manipulate cell lines that are difficult to alter by transient transfection methods or conventional knockdown/knockout strategies.

The Seemingly Stable Trade‐Off

2026

The short-run Phillips curve shows the relationship between the inflation rate and the unemployment rate.During the 1960s, economists observed that this relationship seemed to hold consistently. When unemployment was low, inflation tended to be high, and when unemployment was high, inflation tended to be low.Policymakers at the time interpreted this relationship as a necessary trade-off between unemployment and inflation. They thought they could reduce unemployment only by allowing higher...
