Membrane Test Module

A Membrane Test Module is an electrophysiological tool for characterizing the passive electrical properties of a cell membrane, helping researchers assess how neurons respond to electrical signals. It applies controlled voltage or current steps and records the resulting membrane response to estimate parameters such as membrane resistance, capacitance, and access resistance. In neuroscience, these measurements support patch-clamp experiments, evaluate recording quality, and distinguish changes in neuronal excitability or membrane integrity. By providing quantitative baseline data, the module helps researchers interpret synaptic and action-potential recordings and compare membrane behavior across cells, experimental conditions, or disease-related models.
