Drop Control Method

The Drop Control Method is a technique for precisely generating, positioning, and manipulating liquid droplets, enabling controlled reactions and measurements at small volumes. It works by adjusting factors such as fluid flow, pressure, channel geometry, and interfacial tension to regulate droplet size, frequency, and movement, often within a microfluidic system. In cancer research, controlled droplets can compartmentalize cells, biomolecules, or assay reagents for high-throughput screening, single-cell analysis, and studies of tumor-related processes. Improved control increases experimental consistency, reduces reagent use, and supports miniaturized platforms for cancer diagnostics and drug development.

Generating Neural Progenitors from Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells by the Hanging Drop Method

2025

The video demonstrates the differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) to embryoid bodies (EBs) by the hanging drop method. Upon suspending the mESCs in hanging drops and incubating, the cells aggregate to form EBs, which are further differentiated into neuronal progenitor cells (NPCs) using a differentiation medium supplemented with retinoic acid (RA).
