Mouse Drg Sections

Mouse dorsal root ganglion (DRG) sections are thin tissue slices prepared from the sensory ganglia located along the spinal nerves, providing a structured view of peripheral neurons and their surrounding cells. After tissue fixation and embedding, precise sectioning preserves cellular organization for analysis with stains, immunolabeling, or microscopy. These sections enable researchers to examine sensory neuron morphology, neuronal markers, satellite glial cells, and responses to injury or disease. In neuroscience, mouse DRG sections support studies of pain, mechanosensation, neuroinflammation, and peripheral nerve regeneration, linking tissue-level changes to the function of the somatosensory system.

In this video, we demonstrate the extraction of dorsal root ganglion or DRG from a harvested rat spine for downstream applications.

Co-Culture of Schwann Cells with DRG Neurons on a Pre-Stretched Membrane

2025

The video demonstrates the co-culturing of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons with Schwann cells. DRG neurons are first grown on a pre-stretched membrane for aligned axon growth. Schwann cells are then introduced, which attach to the axons, insulating them and promoting neural cell survival and function.

The indirect immunofluorescence protocol described in this article allows the detection and the localization of proteins in the mouse mammary gland. A complete method is given to prepare mammary gland samples, to perform immunohistochemistry, to image the tissue sections by fluorescence microscopy, and to reconstruct images.
