Lipid Ch Stretch

Lipid CH stretch refers to the carbon–hydrogen stretching vibrations of lipid molecules, especially those in their hydrocarbon chains, and provides a molecular signature of lipid structure. During infrared or Raman spectroscopy, energy drives C–H bonds to stretch, producing spectral bands whose position, shape, and intensity depend on the chemical environment and conformational order of the chains. Researchers use these signals to assess membrane organization, monitor changes in lipid packing and phase behavior, and characterize interactions with proteins, drugs, or other biomolecules. As a result, lipid CH stretch measurements support studies of membrane biophysics, cellular organization, and biomolecular dynamics.
