Tissue Biopsy

Tissue biopsy is a medical procedure that removes a small sample of tissue for microscopic and molecular examination, helping clinicians identify disease when imaging or symptoms alone cannot provide a definitive diagnosis. Depending on the site and clinical question, tissue may be collected with a needle, endoscope, or surgical incision, then preserved, sectioned, stained, and analyzed by pathology. Biopsy findings can reveal inflammation, infection, abnormal cell growth, or cancer and may guide tumor classification, treatment selection, and prognosis. Advances in immunohistochemistry and genomic testing extend biopsy analysis beyond structure, supporting more precise diagnosis and personalized medicine.

We standardized an abdominal adipose tissue biopsy using a non-diathermy method performed under local anesthesia. Three cases of excessive post-operation bleeding out of 115 operations (2.61%) occurred. We conclude that an abdominal adipose tissue surgical biopsy using a non-diathermy method can be safely applied to healthy men.
