Thymus Imaging

Thymus imaging is the visualization and assessment of the thymus, a primary lymphoid organ that supports T-cell development and immune-system maturation. Imaging methods such as ultrasound, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear techniques generate anatomical or functional information by detecting differences in tissue structure, water signals, X-ray attenuation, or tracer uptake. These approaches help characterize thymic size, architecture, age-related involution, developmental abnormalities, inflammation, tumors, and changes associated with immune disorders. In biology and medicine, thymus imaging connects organ structure with immune function, supports longitudinal studies of immune development, and aids research into thymic regeneration and disease.
