Real-time Migration

Real-time migration is the direct observation and measurement of cell movement as it occurs, revealing how cells navigate changing environments. In immunology and infection research, time-lapse microscopy captures sequential images of living immune or infected cells, allowing researchers to track trajectories, speed, directionality, and interactions over time. These measurements can show how chemokine gradients, inflammatory signals, pathogens, or tissue conditions influence leukocyte recruitment and behavior. Real-time migration analysis helps clarify host defense, immune-cell infiltration, pathogen dissemination, and treatment responses, while linking cellular movement to the progression or resolution of infection.
