In Vitro Allergy Testing

In vitro allergy testing is a laboratory-based approach for identifying immune sensitization to specific allergens without directly exposing a patient to them. Typically, a blood sample is analyzed with immunoassays that capture allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE), and detection signals indicate whether the antibodies are present and at what level. This testing supports the evaluation of allergic conditions when skin testing is unsuitable, inconclusive, or impractical, including cases involving extensive skin disease or medications that interfere with results. By linking immune reactivity to particular allergens, in vitro testing can help guide diagnosis, exposure avoidance, and individualized clinical management.

This protocol is designed to demonstrate exposure method of cell cultures to inhaled toxic chemicals. Exposure of differentiated air-liquid interface (ALI) cultures of airway epithelial cells provides a unique model of airway exposure to toxic gases such as chlorine. In this manuscript we describe effect of chlorine exposure on air-liquid interface cultures of epithelial cells and submerged culture of cardiomyocytes. In vitro exposure systems allow important mechanistic studies to evaluate...

A Training and Testing System for Performing Vascular Reconstruction In Vitro

In Vitro Drug Dissolution: Compendial Testing Models I

2025

Compendial dissolution methods are standardized procedures defined by pharmacopeias to evaluate the rate at which a drug dissolves in a specific medium. These methods ensure batch-to-batch consistency, enable quality control, and support the prediction of drug bioavailability. They are critical for both immediate and modified-release drug products. The apparatuses used for dissolution testing differ in their design and mechanical function, but all aim to simulate the physiological environment of...
