Ct Mri Processing

CT and MRI processing is the computational preparation and analysis of medical images, converting raw scans into interpretable maps of anatomy and tissue properties. CT processing reconstructs cross-sectional images from X-ray measurements, whereas MRI processing organizes signals generated by magnetic fields and radiofrequency pulses; both may include artifact correction, spatial registration, segmentation, and quantitative measurement. In behavioral research, these steps help relate brain structure, connectivity, or activity to cognitive performance and observed behavior. Reliable processing improves image quality, supports comparisons across participants and time points, and strengthens studies of development, neurological conditions, and brain-based mechanisms of behavior.

Introduction: MRI and CT scans are crucial advancements in medical imaging techniques, playing a vital role in diagnosing conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system. Each scan serves distinct purposes, targets specific areas, and requires unique nursing duties. Description of the Procedures Computed Tomography (CT) scan: Computed Tomography (CT) scans use X-ray technology to generate detailed images of bones, organs, and tissues. During the scan, the patient lies on a moving table...

Source: Alycia G. Berman, James A. Schaber, and Craig J. Goergen, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana Here we will demonstrate the fundamentals of single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) imaging using mice. The technique involves injecting a radionuclide into a mouse, imaging the animal after it is distributed throughout the body, and then reconstructing the produced images to create a volumetric dataset. This can...
