Qiime 2 Analysis

QIIME 2 is an open-source platform for analyzing microbial community data, particularly DNA sequencing results used to study microbiomes. Its plugin-based workflow converts raw sequence reads into tracked data artifacts, then applies processes such as quality control, feature extraction, taxonomic classification, and diversity analysis while preserving provenance for reproducible research. In biology, QIIME 2 helps researchers compare microbial composition and abundance across environments, organisms, or experimental conditions, supporting studies of ecology, human health, disease, and environmental change. Its visualization tools and interoperable outputs also make complex microbiome analyses more accessible, transparent, and repeatable.

2023

Source: Faisal Alamgir, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA The imaging of microscopic structures of solid materials, and the analysis of the structural components imaged, is known as materialography. Often, we would like to quantify the internal three-dimensional microstructure of a material using only the structural features evidenced by an exposed two-dimensional surface. While X-ray based tomographical methods can reveal buried...

Here a novel region of interest analysis protocol based on sorting best-fit ellipses assigned to regions of positive signal within two-dimensional time lapse image sequences is demonstrated. This algorithm may enable investigators to comprehensively analyze physiological Ca2+ signals with minimal user input and bias.
