Rice Stripe Virus

Rice Stripe Virus is a plant pathogen that primarily infects rice and causes rice stripe disease, a major threat to crop growth and yield. Its segmented, negative-sense RNA genome directs viral replication and protein production in host cells, while the virus spreads persistently through the small brown planthopper, which acquires and transmits it during feeding. Infected plants commonly develop pale or chlorotic stripes, stunting, and reduced grain production. Studying Rice Stripe Virus supports research on plant–virus interactions, vector-mediated transmission, disease diagnostics, and strategies for breeding resistant rice varieties and protecting cereal crops.

Highly Resolved Intravital Striped-illumination Microscopy of Germinal Centers

2014

High-resolution intravital imaging with enhanced contrast up to 120 µm depth in lymph nodes of adult mice is achieved by spatially modulating the excitation pattern of a multi-focal two-photon microscope. In 100 µm depth we measured resolutions of 487 nm (lateral) and 551 nm (axial), thus circumventing scattering and diffraction limits.

Stripe Assay to Study the Attractive or Repulsive Activity of a Protein Substrate Using Dissociated Hippocampal Neurons

Axon guidance molecules regulate neuronal migration and targeted growth-cone navigation. We present a powerful method, the stripe assay, to assess the ability of guidance molecules to attract or repulse neurons. In this protocol, we demonstrate the stripe assay by showing FLRT2's ability to repel cultured hippocampal neurons.

Establishment of Rice Plant Leaf Infection through Fungal Inoculation via Wounding

2025

This video demonstrates the establishment of rice plant leaf infection through wounding inoculation with Magnaporthe grisea mycelium. The fungal spore-derived germ tube penetrates the epidermal layer, resulting in tissue infection and lesions on the leaves. This method aids pathotype screening and improves plant resistance understanding for molecular breeding.

A Spray Inoculation Technique to Establish Fungal Infection in Rice Plant Leaves

This video demonstrates a technique to establish the pathogenic fungus Magnaporthe grisea infection in rice plant leaves. The fungal conidia suspension is sprayed on sections of rice leaf, and the disease progression is assessed by scoring the formation of necrotic lesions.

An Assay for Detecting Reactive Oxygen Species Production in Rice Tissues upon Immune Elicitation

2025

This video demonstrates an assay for real-time detection of reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in rice tissues upon pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMP) elicitation. Cut sheath segments and leaf discs are exposed to a bacterial flagella-derived peptide functioning as a PAMP. Upon recognition of the peptide via pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) on plant cells, a rapid and transient production of ROS occurs, which is detected via a chemiluminescence assay.
