Stromal Processing Peptidases

Stromal processing peptidases are chloroplast enzymes that remove targeting sequences from proteins imported into the organelle, enabling their maturation and function in the stroma or other chloroplast compartments. After a nucleus-encoded protein crosses the chloroplast envelope, these peptidases recognize and cleave its N-terminal transit peptide at a defined site, separating the import signal from the mature protein. This processing step supports the correct localization, folding, and activity of proteins involved in photosynthesis, metabolism, and chloroplast gene expression. Studying stromal processing peptidases therefore helps explain how chloroplasts build their protein complement and maintain cellular functions.

Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 Inhibitors

2024

Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) is a serine protease widely distributed in the body. It's involved in the inactivation of GLP-1 and GIP hormones, which are crucial for insulin regulation. DPP-4 inhibitors, such as sitagliptin (Januvia), saxagliptin (Onglyza), linagliptin (Tradjenta), alogliptin (Nesina), and vildagliptin (Galvus), help increase the proportion of active GLP-1, enhancing insulin secretion. These inhibitors work by competitively binding to DPP-4. This binding causes a significant...

2023

Mechanically isolated stromal vascular fraction (SVF) in combination with a fibrin hydrogel offers an easy and efficient carrier for viable adipose-derived stromal cells for various indications, including tissue engineering and or wound healing purposes. Here, we present the preparation of a mechanical SVF (mSVF)-fibrin hydrogel construct for translational research and clinical application.

This study presents a standardized and validated method for the isolation and culture of primary mouse endometrial stromal and epithelial cells, which can be used in a coculture system to study in vitro decidualization.

An In Vitro Flow Investigation of the Effect of Stromal Cells on Leukocyte Recruitment

2025

The video demonstrates a method for investigating the impact of stromal cells on leukocyte recruitment. In a parallel plate flow chamber model, pro-inflammatory cytokines induce the expression of adhesion receptors by endothelial cells, facilitating neutrophil recruitment and migration. The cross-talk between stromal cells and endothelial cells diminishes neutrophil recruitment to the endothelial cells.
