Cd40-activated B Cells

CD40-activated B cells are B lymphocytes stimulated through the CD40 receptor, a key pathway that coordinates adaptive immune responses and supports antibody production. When CD40 binds CD40 ligand on activated helper T cells, intracellular signaling promotes B-cell proliferation, survival, immunoglobulin class switching, and differentiation into antibody-secreting or memory cells; cytokines further shape these outcomes. In immunology and infection research, CD40-activated B cells provide a controlled model for examining T-cell-dependent activation, antigen presentation, and host defense. They are also used to study vaccine responses, immune deficiencies, and strategies for enhancing or regulating antibody-mediated immunity.

A method for isolating specific cell types from plant material is demonstrated. This technique employs transgenic marker lines expressing fluorescent proteins in particular cell types, cellular dissociation and Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting. Additionally, a growth setup is established here that facilitates treatment of Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings prior to cell sorting.
