Rouviere's Sulcus

Rouviere's Sulcus is a groove on the inferior, visceral surface of the liver that serves as an important anatomical landmark in hepatobiliary surgery. It typically runs horizontally to the right of the hepatic hilum and lies posterior to the porta hepatis, reflecting the location of the right posterior portal pedicle and helping define the plane of the extrahepatic bile ducts. During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, surgeons use the sulcus to orient dissection and maintain a safe plane above and anterior to it, reducing the risk of common bile duct injury. Recognizing this landmark supports safer operative anatomy and more consistent surgical decision-making.

Visualization of the Superior Ocular Sulcus during Danio rerio Embryogenesis

2019

Here, we present a standardized series of protocols to observe the superior ocular sulcus, a recently-identified, evolutionarily-conserved structure in the vertebrate eye. Using zebrafish larvae, we demonstrate techniques necessary to identify factors that contribute to the formation and closure of the superior ocular sulcus.

Lesion Explorer (LE) is a semi-automatic, image-processing pipeline developed to obtain regional brain tissue and subcortical hyperintensity lesion volumetrics from structural MRI of Alzheimer's disease and normal elderly. To ensure a high level of accuracy and reliability, the following is a video-guided, standardized protocol for LE's manual procedures.

Intra-articular Shoulder Injection for Reduction Following Shoulder Dislocation

2023

Source: Rachel Liu, BAO, MBBCh, Emergency Medicine, Yale School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut, USA The anterior shoulder dislocation is one of the most common joint dislocations seen in emergency settings. In anterior shoulder dislocation, the humeral head is displaced out of the glenohumeral joint in front of the scapular glenoid, resulting in a loss of the articulation between the arm and the rest of the shoulder. This can be caused by a fall onto an abducted, extended, and externally...
