Personalized Aortic Repair

Personalized aortic repair is an individualized approach to treating aortic aneurysms, dissections, and other structural disorders according to a patient’s anatomy, disease pattern, and clinical needs. High-resolution imaging, three-dimensional anatomical assessment, and computational planning guide the selection or design of endovascular stent-grafts, surgical techniques, and device placement, with the goal of achieving secure vessel sealing while preserving essential branch arteries. This approach can address complex aortic regions that standard devices may not fit reliably, potentially improving procedural precision, reducing complications, and expanding treatment options for patients with challenging anatomy. It also supports more patient-specific decision-making in contemporary vascular and cardiovascular medicine.

A New Murine Model of Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair

Histological and biochemical modifications after aneurysm endograft exclusion are still unclear. We describe a new model of endograft implantation on a murine aneurysm. Through thrombus analysis with and without persistant circulating blood stream interface, and new endovascular biomaterials evaluation, this model will help to better understand endovascular aneurysm exclusion pathobiology.

Full-root Aortic Valve Replacement by Stentless Aortic Xenografts in Patients with Small Aortic Roots

Full-root aortic valve replacement by stentless aortic xenograft is a viable option in patients with small aortic roots. We describe, a technique for the full-root implantation of stentless aortic xenografts, with emphasis on the management of the proximal suture line and coronary anastomoses, and discuss its limitations and alternative options.

Aortic Ring Assay

Angiogenesis, the sprouting of blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature, is associated with both natural and pathological processes. Here we demonstrate an aortic ring assay that allows angiogenic potentiators and inhibitors to be directly added to aortic rings in culture. Sprouting and neovessel outgrowth can be determined by inspecting the aortic rings over a period of 6-12 days.

Overview of DNA Repair

2020

In order to be passed through generations, genomic DNA must be undamaged and error-free. However, every day, DNA in a cell undergoes several thousand to a million damaging events by natural causes and external factors. Ionizing radiation such as UV rays, free radicals produced during cellular respiration, and hydrolytic damage from metabolic reactions can alter the structure of DNA. Damages caused include single-base alteration, base dimerization, chain breaks, and cross-linkage. Chemically...
