Simultaneous Measurement

Simultaneous measurement is the coordinated acquisition of two or more physical, chemical, or biological variables during the same observation period, allowing their values to be compared under matched conditions. In bioengineering, multiple sensors, imaging channels, or analytical assays collect signals against a shared time reference, so changes in one parameter can be related to changes in another rather than inferred from separate experiments. This approach supports characterization of cell behavior, biomaterials, physiological responses, and engineered systems, helping researchers identify interactions, track dynamic processes, improve experimental control, and evaluate performance more comprehensively.

Single Cell Measurement of Dopamine Release with Simultaneous Voltage-clamp and Amperometry

2012

The amperometric technique measures dopamine release from a single cell by detecting the oxidative current produced by spontaneous dopamine oxidization. Simultaneous voltage clamp and amperometry methodology reveal the mechanistic relationship between the overall "activity" of dopamine transporter and the regulatory role of this activity on the reverse transport of dopamine.

Simultaneous Measurement of Intracellular Calcium and Membrane Potential in a Mouse Cerebral Endothelium

2025

The video demonstrates the simultaneous measurement of intracellular calcium levels and changes in membrane potential in endothelial cells of mouse cerebral artery segments. The isolated endothelial tube is loaded with a fluorescent calcium indicator and treated with a drug that induces intracellular calcium release, resulting in a change in membrane potential. The indicator's fluorescence enables the measurement of calcium levels, and a recording electrode is inserted into a cell to measure...

Simultaneous pH Measurement in Endocytic and Cytosolic Compartments in Living Cells using Confocal Microscopy

Several methods are available for measuring intracellular pH but very few of these allow simultaneous measurement of cytoplasmic and organellar pH. Here, we describe in detail a rapid and accurate methodology to simultaneously measure cytoplasmic and vesicular pH by ratiometric imaging of living cells.

Simultaneous Measurement of HDAC1 and HDAC6 Activity in HeLa Cells Using UHPLC-MS

The present method serves to identify isoform-specific inhibitors of histone deacetylases (HDAC) in HeLa cells by the UHPLC-MS analysis of multiple substrates. This is an antibody-free method developed to reflect HDAC1 and HDAC6 activity in the living cell environment, in contrast to single-isoform cell-free assays.
