Product Traceability

Product traceability is the ability to follow a biological product, material, or sample through each stage of its lifecycle, from origin and processing to distribution and use. It works by linking unique identifiers, such as barcodes, batch numbers, or lot records, with documented information about handling, location, timing, and responsible personnel. In biology, traceability supports sample management, reagent quality control, biomanufacturing, and the tracking of therapeutic products. Reliable records help researchers verify provenance, identify contamination or process failures, meet regulatory requirements, and improve the reproducibility, safety, and accountability of biological research and production.

We describe a method for stable labeling of patient-derived xenografts (PDXs) with lentiviral particles expressing green-fluorescent protein and luciferase reporters. This method allows for tracking the growth of PDXs at the primary site, as well as detecting spontaneous and experimental metastases using in vivo imaging systems.

Relation between Total Product, Marginal Product and Average Product

2024

In the short run, a firm manufactures a product using a fixed amount of capital and varying numbers of workers. Its total product (TP) shows how much output can be produced in a specific period for each combination of labor and capital. Since capital is constant, the output varies with labor. Marginal product (MP) measures the additional output produced by adding one more unit of labor. It is calculated as the change in output divided by the change in labor quantity (ΔTP/ΔL). Average product...
