Nash Mouse Model

NASH mouse models are laboratory systems used to reproduce key features of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, a progressive liver disease involving fat accumulation, inflammation, and tissue injury. Researchers generate these models through dietary, genetic, or chemical interventions that disrupt hepatic lipid metabolism and promote hepatocyte stress, inflammatory signaling, and, in some models, collagen deposition and fibrosis. By linking metabolic changes to liver pathology over time, NASH mouse models help investigators study disease mechanisms, identify biomarkers, and evaluate potential drugs or lifestyle interventions. Their ability to support controlled experiments makes them important for translational research, although differences between mice and humans require careful interpretation.

Nash Equilibrium in One-Period Games

2025

In one-period games, players make their decisions simultaneously without knowing what the other will choose. The Nash equilibrium represents a point where no player can improve their outcome by changing their decision, assuming the other player's choice remains the same. This concept applies directly to situations like mobile catering services deciding on market locations without coordination. Consider two mobile food vendors choosing between setting up in a busy plaza or a quieter business...

Nash Equilibrium of a Bertrand Oligopoly

2025

A Bertrand oligopoly occurs when a few firms compete by strategically setting prices rather than lowering them indefinitely. In this model, firms sell homogeneous (identical) products; thus, customers always choose the cheaper option. As a result, firms set prices at marginal cost, eliminating any economic profit. For example, imagine two coffee stands at a busy train station, both selling identical coffee. If one stand sets its price at $5 per cup, the other will undercut it by pricing at $4.90...

A protocol for performing unilateral 6-OHDA lesions of the medial forebrain bundle in mice is described. This method has a low mortality rate (13.3 %) with 89% of the surviving animals showing >95% loss of striatal dopamine and 90.63±-4.02 % ipsiversive rotational bias towards the side of the lesion.

Mouse Models of Periventricular Leukomalacia

2010

We established mouse models of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), the predominant brain injury in premature infants characterized by periventricular white matter lesions. Hypoxia/ischemia with/without systemic infection are the primary causes of PVL. Unilateral carotid ligation and hypoxia exposure with/without lipopolysaccharide injection creates PVL-like lesions in P6 mice.
