Real-time Fluorescence Measurement

Real-time fluorescence measurement is a technique for monitoring fluorescent signals continuously as biological events occur, providing dynamic information that endpoint assays cannot capture. It works by exciting a fluorophore with selected light and recording changes in emitted fluorescence over time, often as the fluorophore responds to molecular binding, changes in concentration, or shifts in its local environment. In biology, this approach can track gene expression, enzyme activity, ion dynamics, cellular signaling, and live-cell processes. Fluorescence time courses help researchers quantify reaction rates, identify transient responses, and connect molecular mechanisms with changes in cell behavior.
