Puff Topography

Puff topography is the measurement and analysis of inhalation patterns during use of a cigarette, electronic cigarette, or other inhaled product, providing objective information about user behavior and potential exposure. Specialized devices record variables such as puff number, duration, volume, flow rate, and the interval between puffs as a person uses the product under defined conditions. In medicine and public health research, these measurements help characterize nicotine-use behavior, compare products, assess changes during smoking or vaping, and estimate factors that influence constituent delivery. Puff topography can therefore support exposure assessment, clinical studies, cessation research, and evidence-based tobacco regulation.

2025

Topography involves measuring and mapping land elevations, natural features, and artificial structures to create accurate representations of the terrain. Topographic surveying relies on traditional and modern methods, each with distinct advantages and limitations.Traditional Surveying Methods:Transit stadia surveys and plane table surveys were widely used traditional surveying methods. These techniques relied on instruments like theodolites and stadia rods for measuring distances and angles,...

Laser Micromachining for Polymer Surface Topography Design

2025

A method for imposing surface topography of light-absorbing composite polymer materials, particularly magnetoactive elastomers (MAEs), by using laser micromachining is presented. This method enables large flexibility in topographical designs and rapid prototyping. An example of structuring MAE surfaces, characterization, and their response to the external magnetic field is demonstrated.

Neural circuits are topographically organized into functional compartments with specific molecular profiles. Here, we provide the practical and technical steps for revealing global brain topography using a versatile wholemount immunohistochemical staining approach. We demonstrate the utility of the method using the well-understood cytoarchitecture and circuitry of cerebellum.
