Gamma-dgg Antagonist Test

The Gamma-DGG antagonist test is a pharmacological assay that uses gamma-D-glutamylglycine (γ-DGG) to evaluate glutamate receptor activity in neural tissue, helping identify excitatory signaling mechanisms. γ-DGG acts as a competitive antagonist by occupying glutamate-binding sites on ionotropic receptors, thereby reducing receptor activation and the resulting synaptic or cellular response. Comparing neural activity before and after γ-DGG exposure can indicate whether a response depends on glutamatergic transmission and help distinguish receptor-mediated components of neuronal signaling. This approach supports studies of synaptic physiology, circuit function, and the molecular basis of excitatory neurotransmission.

Recording Gamma Band Oscillations in Pedunculopontine Nucleus Neurons

Cited by 3 •

2016

The pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN) is located in the brainstem and its neurons are maximally activated during waking and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep brain states. This work describes the experimental approach to record in vitro gamma band subthreshold membrane oscillation in PPN neurons.

Recording Gamma Band Oscillations From Pedunculopontine Nucleus Neurons in a Brain Slice

2025

The video demonstrates the method to record gamma-band oscillations in PPN neurons. Using a sagittal brain section with synaptic blockers in aCSF, it employs positive current pulses via a patch pipette to open calcium channels, inducing crucial subthreshold activity for wakefulness.

Evoked Gamma Oscillations for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease

Begin with a patient diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, wearing a gamma therapy stimulation device. The device consists of an eye-set and headphones.Using the controller, activate the device to deliver auditory and visual stimulation. The visual component emits flickering light at a gamma frequency, while the auditory component produces synchronized sound pulses.Gamma oscillations are brain waves generated by synchronized neuronal firing, crucial for cognition and memory. In AD, these...

Intravital Visualization of Gamma Delta Intraepithelial Lymphocytes

2025

This video demonstrates the visualization of γδ intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) in transgenic mice using confocal microscopy. The surgical procedure involves creating a perforation line and making a longitudinal incision to expose the intestinal mucosa and villi. The transgenic mice express reporter proteins exclusively in γδ IELs, allowing their tracking. Intravital imaging captures the dynamic movement of green fluorescence-labeled γδ IELs along the intestinal epithelial cell's basement...

Cholinergic Antagonists: Pharmacokinetics

2023

Cholinergic antagonists—such as antimuscarinics—are available in oral, topical, ocular, parenteral, and inhalational formulations. Most antimuscarinics are oral formulations, while scopolamine is available as a topical patch, and ipratropium and tiotropium are available as inhalation aerosols or powders. Atropine, tropicamide, and cyclopentolate are topically instilled in the eye. Most antimuscarinics are lipid-soluble and readily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and the conjunctiva.
