Imaging Cytometer

An imaging cytometer is an analytical instrument that combines microscopy with cytometry to measure and classify individual cells at high throughput while preserving visual information. As cells flow through the instrument or occupy a scanned field, automated optics capture bright-field or fluorescence images, and software extracts features such as cell size, shape, intensity, and marker localization. In developmental biology, imaging cytometry helps quantify changes in cell morphology, proliferation, differentiation, viability, and spatial organization across developing tissues or cell populations. By linking molecular signals with cellular structure, it supports objective comparisons of developmental stages and responses to experimental conditions.
