Dog Fmri

Dog fMRI is a noninvasive neuroimaging technique that maps changes in brain activity in dogs, helping researchers study canine cognition, perception, and behavior. It uses a strong magnetic field and radiofrequency pulses to detect blood-oxygen-level-dependent signals, which change as local neural activity alters blood flow and oxygen use. During controlled tasks or sensory stimulation, researchers can compare activity across brain regions while accounting for motion and animal welfare. These measurements support veterinary neuroscience, comparative studies of mammalian brains, and investigations of learning, emotion, communication, and neurological disorders in dogs.

2017

This article presents eight different experimental tasks, mirroring the everyday life of dogs and owners, used to analyze how owners interact with their dogs in a standardized way. The tasks included both positive (e.g. play) and negative (potentially stressful) situations (e.g. physical restriction).

Electrochemotherapy is the local treatment of solid tumors. The main mechanism is electroporation-mediated permeabilization of the tumor cells' membrane which enables increased internalization of cytostatics like bleomycin and cisplatin. Thus, antitumor effectiveness is potentiated at the site of the application of electric pulses to the tumors.

fMRI: Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging

2023

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a non-invasive neuroimaging technique used to investigate human brain function and cognition in both healthy individuals and populations with abnormal brain states. Functional MRI utilizes a magnetic resonance signal to detect changes in blood flow that are coupled to neuronal activation when a specific task is performed. This is possible because hemoglobin within the blood has different magnetic properties depending on whether or not it is bound...
