Apresentamos um protocolo que utiliza a ressonância magnética funcional para investigar os correlatos neurais do efeito de memória de reforço da emoção. Este protocolo permite a identificação da atividade cerebral ligada à memória, especificamente relacionados com o processamento, ao contrário do mais geral de processamento perceptual, e pode ser utilizado com populações saudáveis e clínicos.
Eventos emocionais tendem a ser mais lembrado do que os não-emocional 1,2 eventos. Um dos objetivos da neurocientistas cognitivos e afetivos é entender os mecanismos neurais subjacentes a esta aumentando o efeito da emoção na memória. Um método que tem se mostrado particularmente influentes na investigação do efeito de memória de reforço da emoção é o chamado paradigma de memória subseqüentes (SMP). Este método foi originalmente usado para investigar os correlatos neurais da memória emocional não-3, e mais recentemente, e outros também aplicado com sucesso para estudos de memória emocional (revisto em 4, 5-7). Aqui, nós descrevemos um protocolo que permite a investigação dos correlatos neurais do efeito de memória de reforço da emoção usando o SMP em conjunto com eventos relacionados a ressonância magnética funcional (fMRI). Uma característica importante do SMP é que ele permite a separação da atividade cerebral associada especificamente com a memória de uma atividade mais geral associada com a percepção. Além disso, no contexto de investigar o impacto dos estímulos emocionais, SMP permite a identificação de regiões do cérebro cuja actividade é suscetível a modulação emocional de ambos geral / percepção e processamento da memória específica. Este protocolo pode ser utilizado em indivíduos saudáveis 15/08, bem como em pacientes clínicos onde há alterações no correlatos neurais da percepção emoção e preconceitos em recordar eventos emocionais, tais como aqueles que sofrem de depressão e pós-traumático (PTSD ) 16, 17.
Este protocolo experimental permite investigação dos correlatos neurais do efeito de memória de reforço da emoção, especificamente por separar a atividade do cérebro relacionadas à memória que é suscetível a modulação pela emoção da atividade nas regiões cerebrais suscetíveis à modulação emoção durante o processamento geral / perceptual.
