Larynx

Der Kehlkopf oder Kehlkopf verbindet den Laryngopharynx mit der Luftröhre.
Es umfasst den ungepaarten Schilddrüsenknorpel, den Zirikoidknorpel und die Epiglottis sowie paarige Arytenoid-, Keil- und Hornknorpel.
Der Schilddrüsenknorpel bildet die vordere und laterale Wand des Kehlkopfes. Er ist bei Männchen ausgeprägter und von außen sichtbar, allgemein als Adamsapfel bekannt.
Ein Band, das als Thyrohyoidemembran bezeichnet wird, verbindet das Zungenbein mit dem Schilddrüsenknorpel.
Posterior erscheint die Epiglottis als große blattförmige Struktur.
Der krikoide Knorpel bildet die untere Wand des Kehlkopfes und ist mit der Luftröhre verbunden.
In der sagittalen Ansicht bilden die Paare von arytenoiden, cornikulaten und keilförmigen Knorpeln die lateralen und hinteren Wände des Kehlkopfes. Sie stützen die Stimmlippen und die seitlichen Aspekte der Epiglottis.
Die Stimmritze besteht aus paarigen Schleimhautfalten – Vestibularfalten, Stimmlippen und dem Zwischenraum zwischen ihnen, der als Rima glottidis bekannt ist.
Mit Hilfe von intrinsischen und extrinsischen Muskeln im Kehlkopf bewegen sich Knorpel und Membranfalten der Stimmritze systemisch und erzeugen Stimme.

kehlkopf (larynx)

Der menschliche Kehlkopf, oft auch als Stimmapparat bezeichnet, ist ein komplexes Organ im Hals. Er dient als Weg für die Luft, die beim Atmen in die Lunge gelangt, und ist ein wesentlicher Bestandteil der Stimmbildung.

Anatomie des Kehlkopfes

Der Kehlkopf besteht aus verschiedenen Komponenten, darunter Knorpel, Muskeln und Stimmbänder. Seine Struktur umfasst drei große ungepaarte Knorpel – Schilddrüse, Ringknorpel und Kehldeckel – und drei kleinere gepaarte Knorpel – Aryknorpel, Hornknorpel und Keilbeinknorpel. Diese Knorpel sind durch Bänder und Membranen miteinander verbunden.

Die Stimmbänder (auch Stimmlippen genannt) sind zwei Bänder aus Muskeln und Bindegewebe im Kehlkopf. Sie vibrieren, um Töne zu erzeugen, und werden von Ästen des Vagusnervs gesteuert, den sogenannten Nervi laryngei recurrens und Nervi laryngei superior. Der Kehlkopf enthält außerdem Drüsen, die Schleim produzieren, der die Kehlkopfschleimhaut befeuchtet und schützt. In der Nähe des Kehlkopfs befinden sich mehrere wichtige Strukturen, darunter das Zungenbein, das den Kehlkopf stützt, und die Luftröhre, in die der Kehlkopf mündet. Mehrere Muskeln, wie der Musculus sternothyroideus und der Musculus thyrohyoideus, helfen, den Kehlkopf zu bewegen und zu stabilisieren. Rolle bei der Atmung

Beim Atmen strömt die Luft durch den Kehlkopf in die Luftröhre und dann in die Lunge. Die Stimmbänder öffnen sich weit, indem sie sich beim Einatmen abduzieren, um den Luftstrom zu maximieren. Bei der Ausatmung können sie entweder für die normale Atmung geöffnet bleiben oder sich schließen, um einen Druckaufbau bei Aktionen wie Husten oder Heben schwerer Gegenstände zu ermöglichen.

Atmungsmessungen wie das Atemzugvolumen (die Luftmenge, die bei normaler Atmung ein- oder ausgeatmet wird), das inspiratorische Reservevolumen (die maximale Luftmenge, die man nach einer normalen Einatmung einatmen kann) und das exspiratorische Reservevolumen (die maximale Luftmenge, die man nach einer normalen Ausatmung ausatmen kann) sind in erster Linie Messgrößen für die Lungenfunktion, können aber durch die Durchlässigkeit (Offenheit) des Kehlkopfes beeinflusst werden.

Ton- und Sprachproduktion

Der Kehlkopf spielt eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Stimmbildung. Während der Stimmbildung strömt Luft aus der Lunge durch den Kehlkopf und bringt die Stimmbänder zum Vibrieren. Diese Vibration erzeugt Schallwellen, die dann durch die Resonanzeigenschaften des Stimmtrakts, einschließlich Zunge, Gaumen und Lippen, modifiziert werden, um deutliche Sprachlaute zu erzeugen. Die Tonhöhe und der Klang der Stimme können durch die Veränderung der Spannung und der Länge der Stimmbänder, die durch die Krikothyreoid- und Thyroarytenoid-Muskeln gesteuert werden, verändert werden. Die Lautstärke der Stimme wird durch die Kraft des Luftstroms aus der Lunge und die Spannung der Stimmbänder bestimmt.

Klinische Bedeutung

Zu den häufigsten klinischen Erkrankungen im Zusammenhang mit dem Kehlkopf zählen Laryngitis (Entzündung des Kehlkopfes), Stimmbandlähmung und Kehlkopfkrebs. Zu den Symptomen können Heiserkeit, Schluck- oder Atembeschwerden und anhaltender Husten gehören. Die Behandlungsmöglichkeiten variieren je nach Erkrankung und können von Stimmtherapie und Medikamenten bis hin zu Operationen reichen.

The larynx is the voice box in the neck. It carries air into the lungs and helps produce voice. Its structure is complex because it must support both breathing and sound production.

The larynx contains cartilage, muscles, and the vocal cords, also called vocal folds. It includes three large unpaired cartilages: the thyroid, cricoid, and epiglottis. It also includes three paired cartilages: the arytenoids, corniculates, and cuneiforms. Ligaments and membranes hold these parts together.

The vocal cords are two bands of muscle and connective tissue inside the larynx. They vibrate to create sound. The recurrent laryngeal nerves and superior laryngeal nerves, which are branches of the vagus nerve, control them. The larynx also has glands that make mucus, which keeps the lining moist and protected.

Several nearby structures help support and move the larynx. The hyoid bone supports it. The trachea opens below it. Muscles such as the sternothyroid and thyrohyoid help stabilize and move it. Blood comes mainly from the superior and inferior laryngeal arteries, and nerve supply comes from the superior and recurrent laryngeal nerves.

During breathing, air passes through the larynx into the trachea and then the lungs. The vocal cords open wide during inhalation to allow more airflow. During exhalation, they may stay open for normal breathing or close to help build pressure for coughing or lifting heavy objects. Larynx openness can affect lung measurements such as tidal volume, inspiratory reserve volume, and expiratory reserve volume.

The larynx is also essential for voice production. During phonation, air from the lungs passes through it and makes the vocal cords vibrate. That vibration creates sound waves, which are shaped by the tongue, palate, and lips into speech. Pitch changes when the cricothyroid and thyroarytenoid muscles change vocal cord tension and length. Voice volume depends on airflow force and vocal cord tension.

Problems with the larynx can affect speech and breathing. Common conditions include laryngitis, vocal cord paralysis, and laryngeal cancer. Symptoms can include hoarseness, trouble swallowing or breathing, and a persistent cough. Treatment may include voice therapy, medication, or surgery, depending on the condition.

The digestive system processes and supplies the molecules needed to sustain the living tissues within the body through the absorption of nutrients. Six major functions of the digestive system include secretion, ingestion, mechanical processing, enzymatic digestion, absorption and excretion. The lining of the digestive system protects surrounding tissues from the mechanical and enzymatic stresses of the digestive process. Processes of the digestive system include the mechanical and chemical breakdown of food into small molecules which are then absorbed by the digestive tract. Specific actions within the digestive system include mastication, peristalsis, segmentation and the release of hormones and enzymes necessary for digestion. The metabolic functions of the accessory organs play strategic roles in the breakdown of food products, the maintenance of glucose levels within the blood and the regulation of homeostasis in the body. Indigestible material is excreted as waste. Homeostatic imbalances are explored. These include, but are not limited to, conditions such as gallstones, heartburn, ulcers, dehydration, diarrhea, cirrhosis and cancers of the digestive system. Investigations are used to understand and explain the digestive system in a variety of inquiry and design scenarios that can incorporate evolutionary concepts, scientific reasoning, comparative analysis, communication skills and real-world applications.

The airways include the nasal and oral cavities, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli. The respiratory system transports and exchanges gases including oxygen and carbon dioxide. Processes involved in the respiratory system include respiration mechanics and gas exchange. Respiration mechanics is the process by which humans breathe and includes the movement of the diaphragm and pressure-volume relationships. Gas exchange refers to the diffusion of gas across the alveolar epithelium in the respiratory system and capillary endothelium of the cardiovascular system. Lung volumes and capacities can be measured using spirometry. Homeostatic imbalances are explored. These include, but are not limited to, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis and the effects of smoking and pollution.
