Brodmann Area 44 45

Brodmann Areas 44 and 45 are cytoarchitectonically distinct regions of the inferior frontal gyrus, commonly associated with language, executive control, and socially relevant behavior. Area 44 contributes to speech production, syntactic processing, and motor planning, while Area 45 supports semantic retrieval, response selection, and the regulation of goal-directed communication through interactions with temporal, parietal, and premotor regions. Their activity varies with context, task demands, and the need to select or inhibit competing responses. Studying these areas with neuroimaging, neuropsychological assessment, and brain stimulation helps clarify language organization, decision-making, social cognition, and behavioral changes following neurological injury.

An Introduction to Neuroanatomy

2023

Neuroanatomy is the study of nervous system structures and how they relate to function. One focus of neuroanatomists is the macroscopic structures within the central and peripheral nervous systems, like the cortical folds on the surface of the brain. However, scientists in this field are also interested in the microscopic relationships between neurons and glia - the two major cell types of the nervous system. This video provides a brief overview of the history of neuroanatomical research,...

Strain Sensing Based on Multiscale Composite Materials Reinforced with Graphene Nanoplatelets

2016

The integration of conductive nanoparticles, such as graphene nanoplatelets, into glass fiber composite materials creates an intrinsic electrical network susceptible to strain. Here, different methods to obtain strain sensors based on the addition of graphene nanoplatelets into the epoxy matrix or as a coating on glass fabrics are proposed.

2010

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been identified in a number of malignancies. In this protocol we describe a flow cytometric method utilizing aldehyde dehydrogenase activity and CD44 and CD24 expression to isolate CSCs from human pancreatic adenocarcinoma xenografts. These viable cells can then be used in functional and analytical studies.
