Helios Gene Gun

The Helios Gene Gun is a biolistic delivery system that introduces genetic material directly into cells, making it useful for studying gene function and cellular responses in biology. It uses pressurized helium to accelerate microscopic gold particles coated with DNA into target tissues, where the DNA can enter cells and support transient gene expression. Researchers apply this technique to plant tissues, cultured cells, and selected animal tissues for genetic manipulation, reporter assays, and vaccine research. Because it can deliver nucleic acids without relying on viral vectors, the Helios Gene Gun provides a flexible tool for experimental gene transfer and biological investigation.
