Marcelo Pires Amaral graduated in Biological Sciences (2015) and also got his Master of Science title in Microbiology and Immunology (2018) from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil. He completed his undergraduate course at Temple University / University of Pennsylvania, USA. During his master's degree, he focused on vaccine development against arboviruses in murine model and analysis of the induced immune responses.

Marcelo Pires Amaral is at present a PhD student in the Microbiology, Immunology and Parasitology Department at UNIFESP. He is currently developing his research in the Immunology field, investigating the role of inflammasome proteins after infection by protozoa parasites.
