The expanded partnership will provide the full JoVE video library to all Northeastern faculty, staff, and students as well as offer the same resources for free to Boston Public High Schools to support STEM education
Cambridge, MA, July 29, 2020 – As part of its ever-growing curriculum and research in science, technology, engineering, and medicine, and to serve a constantly expanding network of eleven campuses, Northeastern University has subscribed to the full JoVE library of visual STEM resources. In a special arrangement that reflects Northeastern’s commitment to its surrounding community in Boston, the subscription will also extend access to JoVE for free to local Boston Public High Schools.
In response to the immediate need for additional remote teaching, learning, and lab training resources, Northeastern has upgraded to provide full JoVE access to its students, teachers, and researchers. JoVE’s research and education videos were found to provide the breadth and depth needed to meet the needs of science students and researchers at all levels; both online and when on campus instruction returns.
As an R1 research university, it is vital that the institution keep campus researchers up to date with the latest scientific methods and experiments even when in person lab work is not possible. In addition, maintaining instruction on scientific foundations to advanced theories within coursework is essential to ensure learning objectives are maintained. JoVE videos bring to life the intricate details of cutting-edge experiments enabling efficient learning and replication of research methods and technologies.
Northeastern will also be extending its JoVE STEM resources to Boston Public Schools (BPS); further broadening its partnerships with the local public school system. Seeking to assist students with college preparation, Northeastern hopes working with Boston Public High Schools will infuse curricula with a forward thinking learning perspective. Northeastern asks interested BPS High Schools to reach out to Evan Simpson at firstname.lastname@example.org who will be arranging partnerships and providing access to JoVE through Northeastern’s Snell Library. JoVE and Northeastern are excited to see these partnerships flourish, supporting STEM success from lower grade levels through to higher education and beyond.
