Allergy Medication Testing

Allergy Medication Testing comprises clinical procedures used to determine whether a medication causes an immune-mediated hypersensitivity reaction and to identify safe treatment alternatives. Depending on the suspected reaction, clinicians may use skin prick or intradermal testing to detect immediate responses, patch testing for delayed reactions, or a supervised drug challenge involving carefully graded doses. These approaches help distinguish true medication allergy from nonimmune side effects, clarify the cause of symptoms, and guide safer prescribing. In immunology and infection care, accurate testing can preserve effective antibiotic options, reduce unnecessary drug avoidance, and support individualized patient management.
