Electroacupuncture Modulation

Electroacupuncture modulation is the alteration of neural and physiological activity by applying controlled electrical stimulation through acupuncture needles, providing a tool for studying how peripheral inputs influence the nervous system. Electrical pulses delivered at selected frequencies and intensities activate sensory afferent fibers, which can engage spinal and supraspinal circuits and alter neurotransmitter release, autonomic signaling, and pain-related processing. In neuroscience, this approach helps investigate neural mechanisms underlying analgesia, inflammation, and sensorimotor regulation. Its experimental and therapeutic relevance depends on stimulation parameters, electrode placement, and the biological state of the subject, making standardized protocols important for comparing outcomes and advancing neuromodulation research.
