[Exploration on sensation positioning method of heat-sensitive moxibustion: the inheritance and development of ashi method].

From original concept and literature of acupoint, the concept and clinical significance of ashi method is discussed, which clarifies that the essence of ashi method is to locate the acupoints by patients' sensitivity on force. The clinical application of heat-sensitive moxibustion has illustrated that positioning method of this therapy is based on the appearance of heat-sensitive moxibustion sensation. Although both types are based on patients' feeling, positioning method of heat-sensitive moxibustion stands on a new angle and uses a new method to locate acupoint. Therefore, it is believed that the positioning method of heat-sensitive moxibustion is the inheritance and development of ashi method.

Naringenin (1) was transformed to three metabolites (2-4) by Mucor sp. Based on LCMS(n)-IT-TOF and NMR spectroscopic data, 2-4 were identified as naringenin-7-O-sulphate, naringenin-4'-O-sulphate, and naringenin-5-O-sulphate, respectively. These results might provide hints to the mammalian/human metabolism of naringenin.

Syringin, chlorogenic acid and 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid are three main bioactive ingredients in herbs of Saussurea involucrata with various pharmacological properties, while their contents are very low. In this study, the biosynthesis of syringin, chlorogenic acid and 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid in the cell suspension cultures of S. involucrata were regulated by feeding carbon sources and precursors, which resulted in a great increase of the contents and yields of the above three bioactive ingredients. After 16 days of fermentation, the yields of syringin, chlorogenic acid and 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid reached 339.0, 225.3, 512.7 mg x L(-1), respectively. Meanwhile, their contents increased up to 67.9, 1.9, 10.6 times of wild medicinal material, respectively. The results provided a solid basis for further studies on application of cell suspension cultures of S. involucrata for large-scale production of bioactive compounds syringin, chlorogenic acid and 1,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid.

Seven meroterpenoids and five small-molecular precursors were isolated from Penicillium sp., an endophytic fungus from Dysosma versipellis. The structures of new compounds, 11beta-acetoxyisoaustinone (1) and isoberkedienolactone (2) were elucidated based on analysis of the spectral data, and the absolute configuration of 2 was established by TDDFT ECD calculation with satisfactory match to its experimental ECD data. Meroterpenoids originated tetraketide and pentaketide precursors, resepectively, were found to be simultaneously produced in specific fungus of Penicillium species. These compounds showed weak cytotoxicity in vitro against HCT-116, HepG2, BGC-823, NCI-H1650, and A2780 cell lines with IC 50 > 10 micromol x L(-1).

This study was purposed to investigate the effect of Notch signaling pathway on VEGF promoting the proliferation of rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). Rat MSC were cultured in vitro, and the cells in logarithmic growth phase were used for experiments. The inhibitor DAPT was used to block Notch signaling pathway, and the effect of the pathway on VEGF promoting proliferation of MSC was observed. The experiment was divided into 4 groups: control, VEGF, DAPT and VEGF+DAPT. The CCK-8 was used to assay the cells proliferation of each group, while RT-PCR was used to detect the changes of related genes (Notch1, Notch2, Flk-1, Hes-1) at mRNA levels. The results indicated that the cells survival rate MSC in DAPT group and VEGF+DAPT group was low in each time point (24 h, 48 h, 72 h), the cell number decreased, and the cells became rounded. The survival rate of MSC in VEGF group was the highest; the difference of cell survival rate was statistically significant between the groups (P < 0.01); Compared with the control group, the mRNA expression level of Notch1, Notch2 and Flk-1 in VEGF group was raised, while the expression level of Notch1 and Notch2 in DAPT group and VEGF+DAPT group come down, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05); whereas the mRNA expression level of Hes-1 in VEGF group was down-regulated, but that in DAPT group and VEGF+DAPT group was up-regulated, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Flk-1 mRNA level in DAPT group and VEGF+DAPT group was slightly lower, but the difference was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). It is concluded that Notch signaling pathway plays an important role in promoting the proliferation of rat MSC, treated with VEGF, however, the DAPT can weaken this effect.

Popillia quadriguttata (F.) has caused extensive damage to ?20 families and 25 species of plants in Asia, especially in China and Korea. Adult feeding causes serious damage to soybean leaves, and larvae develop on the roots of soybean, turf, and horticultural crops. As Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica Newman) lures have been used for trapping P. quadriguttata in a previous study, mass trapping this pest with various densities of the Japanese beetle pheromone, Japonilure, and floral lure, alone and in combination, were carried out during 2012-2013 in a northeastern China soybean field. Mass trapping in 2012 with Japonilure gave the best results with 72 and 75% adult and larval reduction, respectively. In 2013, mass trapping (30 traps per hectare) with Japonilure, floral lure, or the combination resulted in a 93, 70, and 74% reduction of adults trapped, and a 90, 77, and 93% reduction of overwintering larvae, respectively. In addition, field tests showed that almost twice as many beetles approached the lure combination compared with the floral lure alone, and the pheromone residual was ?80% of the initial dosage after 30 d. Because reduction of overwintering larvae is the most critical parameter indicating treatment efficacy, the results here indicate that the lure or lure combinations can be recommended for use by Chinese soybean farmers.

Matin disruption and mass trapping of Ostrinia furnacalis (Génuéé), often called the Asian corn borer, were incorporated with insecticides to reduce pesticide use. Pesticides alone are often ineffective owing to problems in timing applications before the larvae enter the protection of corn stalks. In addition, overuse of insecticides has caused environmental contamination and concerns about consumer health. In 2010, 15 insecticides were compared with mating disruption or mass trapping at various dispenser (disp.) densities for reducing egg masses, trap captures, and ear damage. Mass trapping with 30 and 40 disp./ha, mating disruption with 300 disp./ha, or endosulfan, chlorpyrifos, and monosultap (0.55, 0.35, and 0.55 kg/ha, respectively) gave ?50% ear protection. In 2011, an insecticide alone, no treatments, pheromone alone, and pheromone + insecticide were examined. The same insecticides in combination with mating disruption or mass trapping at ?200 or?20 disp./ha gave >90% ear protection even when chemical applications were reduced to 1 from 3, and the rates were reduced 50-75%. Pheromone dispensers contained >50% of their initial load 30 d after exposure.

A total of 24 biologically pure entophytic fungal strains were isolated from stems, leaves, and seed coats of Xylocarpus plants by repeated purification, and identified with Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) rDNA molecular method, which belonging to 14 genera, 11 families, 9 orders and 3 classes. There were differences in genus and species levels among three plant materials from different habitats and species, and it was found that the strains of Phomopsis and Colletotrichum existed in all three plant materials. In vitro assay of antitumor activity by MTT method revealed that the EtOAc extracts of 15 strains exhibited potent antitumor activity. These results suggest that it is of value for further investigation on the above fungal strains.

Cervical keratinocytes are recovered at a low numbers and frequently associated with contaminating human fibroblasts which rapidly overgrow the epithelial cells in culture with medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). However, it is difficult to initiate keratinocyte cultures with serum-free keratinocyte growth medium alone because cell attachment can be poor. Therefore, the culture of these cells is extremely difficult. In this study, we described a modified culture medium and coated culture plastics for growing normal human cervical epithelial cells in vitro.

The prenylation of aromatic compounds plays an important role in the natural product research because it not only gives rise to an astounding diversity of primary and secondary metabolites in plants, fungi and bacteria but also enhances the bioactivities and bioavailabilities of these compounds. However, further investigation of prenylated aromatic compounds is frequently hindered due to their low content in nature and difficulties in chemical synthesis. Cloning aromatic prenyltransferase genes followed by heterologous expression would be attractive tools for the chemoenzymatic synthesis of bioactive molecules. This review summarizes the classifications, structural investigations, enzymatic catalysis and other progress in aromatic prenyltransferases originated from microorganisms.

The adaptations of root morphology, physiology, and biochemistry to phosphorus supply have been characterized intensively. However, characterizing these adaptations at molecular level is largely neglected under field conditions. Here, two consecutive field experiments were carried out to investigate the agronomic traits and root traits of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) at six P-fertilizer rates. Root samples were collected at flowering to investigate root dry weight, root length density, arbusular-mycorrhizal colonization rate, acid phosphatase activity in rhizosphere soil, and expression levels of genes encoding phosphate transporter, phosphatase, ribonucleases, and expansin. These root traits exhibited inducible, inhibitory, or combined responses to P deficiency, and the change point for responses to P supply was at or near the optimal P supply for maximum grain yield. This research improves the understanding of mechanisms of plant adaptation to soil P in intensive agriculture and provides useful information for optimizing P management based on the interactions between soil P dynamics and root processes.

The objective of this study was to detect the level of plasma stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and the expression of CXCR4 (SDF-1 receptor in bone marrow cells) in children with Acute Leukemia (AL) and to investigate the relationship between the expression of CXCR4 and extramedullary infiltration. 48 children with acute leukemia and 20 with non-hematologic malignancies were selected into the AL group and the control group respectively. The peripheral plasma and bone marrow cells were collected. The level of SDF-1 in peripheral plasma was detected by ELISA and the expression of CXCR4 in bone marrow cells was determined by flow cytometry. The results showed that the levels of SDF-1 in peripheral plasma and the expression of CXCR4 in bone marrow cells of AL group was significantly higher than that of control group, among which the level of SDF-1 of the acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) group was also higher than that of the acute myeloid leukemia (AML) group, the expression level of CXCR4 in the bone marrow cells of the extramedullary infiltration (EI) group was higher than that of the non-extramedullary Infiltration (NI) group, and all the differences between the both groups were significant. It is concluded that SDF-1 and CXCR4 express a high level in children with AL, which closely relates with the type of leukemia and the migration and infiltration of leukemia cells in bone marrow.

The distant heat induced by suspended moxibustion (SM) for 40 min is confirmed to have a favorable effect in treating diseases such as ischemic brain injury in the clinical setting, but its precise mechanism remains to be explained. Since a similar reaction to the phenomenon of distant heat is found in some transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO) rats treated by a 40-min SM session with tail temperature increase (TTI), we hereby study its mechanism by comparing the neuroprotective effect of 40 mins SM with TTI to those without. The experimental results show that 40 mins SM with TTI can significantly reduce the infarct volume and neurological deficit score in tMCAO rats. Western blot demonstrates that a reduction in the levels of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression in tMCAO rats with TTI is more striking than that of the rats without TTI. The expression of caspase-3 protein is inhibited in tMCAO rats with TTI. The results suggest that the efficacy of SM for 40 min with TTI is higher than that without. Although neuroprotective effects present in tMCAO rats with and without TTI, those with TTI revealed a higher level of anti-inflammation effect and exhibited an anti-apoptosis effect.

To discuss the hypothesis of the sensitization state of acupoints based on the original definition and the localization method of acupoint from Internal Classic as well as the clinical evidence of heat-sensitive moxibustion. Acupoints are different in the states, named resting and sensitization. The acupoints of sensitization state are the reactive sites of disease on the body surface, also the best sites for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment. The acupoints are the specific sensitive sites on the body surface relevant with diseases with the best therapeutic effects. Hence, the acupoints of sensitization state are of dynamic variability. In clinical application, only the two-step location method, preliminary and accurate localizations (sensitive probing localization) from Internal Classic can localize the acupoints precisely, rather than one-step location method such as proportional measurement or body surface landmark localization. The nature and property of acupoints are different based on the functional state, not just on the fixed locations.

An N-acetyl-5-N,4-O-oxazolidinone-protected p-toluene 2-thio-sialoside donor, promoted by Ph(2)SO/Tf(2)O/TTBPy, was thoroughly investigated in the coupling to various acceptors. The stereoselectivity of the sialylation was found to be dependent on the various reaction conditions, such as pre-activation time, reaction time, the amount of Ph(2)SO, and TTBPy. A detailed Ph(2)SO/Tf(2)O-promoted glycosylation mechanism was proposed, which contained three crucial reactive species: an oxacarbenium ion, C2-sialyloxosulfonium salts, and oxosulfonium supramers. Our research results indicate that it is possible to tune the stereoselectivity of the sialylation by carefully changing the reaction conditions. For instance, Ph(2)SO (2.0-3.0 equiv)/TTBPy (0-1.0 equiv) promotion gives higher ?-selective sialylation in dichloromethane, while Ph(2)SO (4-5 equiv)/TTBPy (0 equiv) or Ph(2)SO (2.0 equiv)/TTBPy (2.0 equiv) affords lower stereoselectivity.

When moxibustion is applied to a certain acupoint in the patient, a regional heat sensitive reaction may be found. In the present paper, the authors expound its conception and appearing regularities, its relationship with the "arrival of qi" of Chinese medicine, and its clinical application in guiding acupoint selection and heat-stimulation quantity. Heat sensitive reaction during moxibustion ("heat sensitive moxibustion") is frequently seen in people undergoing pathological conditions and correlates highly with the diseases. It characterizes in dynamic changes in the location along with the state of the disorders and in being not always to coincide with the standard meridian acupoint location. The heat sensitive phenomenon of moxibustion is one of the manifestations in the activated functional activities of meridian of Chinese medicine just like the arrival of the qi caused by acupuncture stimulation. It is also a sign of activation of the human endogenous functional regulative system. Therefore, thinking highly of the heat sensitive reaction of moxibustion is the key point for raising the curative effect in clinical practice.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitor PTK787 on cell proliferation, cell cycle and the expression of fak mRNA of human chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) cell line K562, and to explore the mechanism of PTK787 against acute myeloid leukemia. The MTT method was used to detect the effects of PTK787 in various concentrations and at different time points on proliferation of K562 cells; the flow cytometry was used to determine the effects of PTK787 in different concentrations on cell cycle of K562 cells; the RT-PCR was used to assay the expression of fak mRNA in K562 cells treated with PTK787 for 48 hours. The results showed that along with increasing of the concentration and prolonging of time, the inhibitory rate of PTK787 on K562 proliferation was gradually enhanced. The comparison between various concentration groups at same time or comparison between various time groups in same concentration showed significant differences (p < 0.05), in which the effect of 320 micromol/L PTK787 on cells was strongest, while the continuous increase of PTK787 concentration or prolong of action time did not enhance the inhibitory rate on K562 proliferation. With increasing of drug concentration, the cell proportion in G(1) phase gradually increased, the cell proportion in S phase gradually decreased, the comparison between various groups revealed significant differences (p < 0.05), however the continuous increase of drug concentration from 160 micromol/L did not obviously change the cell proportion in phases of cell cycle. With increasing of drug concentration, the expression of fak mRNA in K562 cells gradually reduced with significant differences between various groups (p < 0.05), but with continuous increase of drug concentration from 160 micromol/L, the effect of PTK787 on the expression of fak mRNA in K562 cells also did not obviously change. It is concluded that the PTK787 shows effect of anti-leukemia cells through inhibiting transformation of the K562 cells from G(1) phase into S phase and decreasing the expression of fak mRNA in cells.

The chemical constituents of the cell cultures of Saussurea involucrata were systematically investigated, thus a new eudesmane-type sesquiterpene together with 14 known compounds was isolated. Among them, syringin is the main compound with an isolated yield of 0.3%. The new compound was characterized as 11 beta H-2 alpha-hydroxy-eudesman-4(15)-en-12,8 beta-olide (1) on the basis of extensive spectroscopic data.

We extended our previous genome-wide association study for psoriasis with a multistage replication study including 8,312 individuals with psoriasis (cases) and 12,919 controls from China as well as 3,293 cases and 4,188 controls from Germany and the United States and 254 nuclear families from the United States. We identified six new susceptibility loci associated with psoriasis in the Chinese study containing the candidate genes ERAP1, PTTG1, CSMD1, GJB2, SERPINB8 and ZNF816A (combined P < 5 × 10??) and replicated one locus, 5q33.1 (TNIP1-ANXA6), previously reported (combined P = 3.8 × 10?²¹) in the European studies. Two of these loci showed evidence for association in the German study at ZNF816A and GJB2 with P = 3.6 × 10?³ and P = 7.9 × 10?³, respectively. ERAP1 and ZNF816A were associated with type 1 (early onset) psoriasis in the Chinese Han population (test for heterogeneity P = 6.5 × 10?³ and P = 1.5 × 10?³, respectively). Comparisons with the results of previous GWAS of psoriasis highlight the heterogeneity of disease susceptibility between the Chinese and European populations. Our study identifies new genetic susceptibility factors and suggests new biological pathways in psoriasis.

KSHV (Kaposis sarcoma-associated herpesvirus), or HHV-8 (human herpesvirus 8), is associated with the pathogenesis of KS, the most common AIDS-related malignancy. xCT (functional subunit of the cystine/glutamate transporter xc- system) is known as the HHV-8 fusion-entry receptor as well as an oncogenic protein. How the xCT triggers the signal transduction of HHV-8 infection and the cell proliferation remains incomplete. We found that xCT was overexpressed in KS tissues and HHV-8-positive BCBL-1 cells. When xCT cDNA plasmids were transfected into the HHV-8-negative BJAB cells, the expression of 14-3-3beta and cell growth rate were increased. In contrast, the expression of 14-3-3beta and the cell growth rate of HHV-8-positive BCBL-1 cells were suppressed by either xCT siRNA (short interfering RNA) or an xCT inhibitor, sulfsalazine. These results suggest that 14-3-3beta is a downstream effector of xCT in KS to mediate the cell proliferation.

HOMO level of the PBDTTT-based polymer was successfully reduced by introducing an ketone group in place of the ester group. The average PCE of the PBDTTT-based devices reached 6.3% with a champion PCE result of 6.58%. Due to its highly efficient photovoltaic performance and more feasible synthesis approach, PBDTTT-C has the potential to be successfully applied in the large-scale manufacturing of polymer solar cells.

The objective of study was to explore the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptor-2 in pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia. The acute myeloid leukemia model was established on 20 mice with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) transplanted by HL-60 cells. The mice were divided into the normal control and test group randomly. The expression of VEGF was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expression of VEGFR-2 mRNA was detected by RT-PCR. The results showed that the establishment of acute myeloid leukemia model was succeeded on all SCID mice by HL-60 cell transplantation. The expressions of VEGF and VEGFR-2 mRNAs could be determined on all mice. As compared with the normal control group, the expressions of VEGF and VEGFR-2 mRNAs in the test group significantly increased, but gradually increased during the course of disease. It is concluded that the abnormal expressions of VEGF and VEGFR-2 exist in mice with acute myeloid leukemia, which may be involved in the pathogenesis of AML.

The roots of 8-year-old Ginkgo biloba saplings were partially excised to three degrees to study the effects of root-excision on the trunk hydraulic traits and growth status of the saplings. The three degrees were severe, medium, and light (8:1, 10:1, and 12:1 of excised root diameter to base diameter of tree trunk, respectively). Physiological parameters including trunk ultrasound acoustic emission (UAE) signal, branch percentage loss of hydraulic conductance (PLC), sap flow flux, and leaf stomatal conductance, transpiration rate and water potential were measured periodically after root-excision. In all treatments, a great number of trunk UAE signal produced after a short time of root-excision, peaked at 6 h, and decreased gradually then. The intensity of the UAE signals increased with increasing root-excision degree. After root-excision, the branch PLC increased rapidly in the first 12 h but slowly after 24 h. The sap flow flux, leaf stomatal conductance, transpiration rate and water potential after root-excision decreased obviously, with significant differences among the three treatments. The cumulative number of UAE signals (cUAE) was significantly and positively correlated with branch embolism degree, while negatively correlated with sap flow flux and leaf water potential. The leaf area and new branch length of G. biloba in the next year after root-excision decreased significantly, and the decrement was increased with root-excision degree. Root-excision not only made the degrees of conduits cavitation and branch embolism increased, but also affected water transportation and leaf transpiration rate within a short period of time, which would in turn give an impact on G. biloba plant growth.

Syringin is one of the main bioactive ingredients in Saussurea involucrata. In this study, various chromatographic techniques were employed to isolate and purify syringin in the polar extraction of cell suspension cultures of S. involucrata. The structure of syringin was characterized by the analysis of spectroscopic data. A quantitative analytical method for the content of syringin in cultures of S. involucrata was established with RP-HPLC. The method is convenient, accurate and reliable. All this results provided a basis for further studies on application of cell suspension cultures of S. involucrata for large-scale production of bioactive compound syringin.

The postoperative course of cyanotic patients is generally more complicated than in acyanotic patients. The ischemic postconditioning provides protection from myocardial injury. We conducted a randomized trial to evaluate the clinical benefits of postconditioning in patients undergoing repair of tetralogy of Fallot. Ninety-nine patients with tetralogy of Fallot were randomly assigned to ischemic postconditioning group (n=48) or control group (n=51). The postconditioning was performed by intermittent aortic clamping after reperfusion. The morbidity, mortality, ventilation time, length of ICU stay, inotropic score, release of troponin I and lactate were assayed. There was one death in postconditioned group and two in control. Major non-fatal morbidity was reduced in postconditioned patients (12.5%, 6/48) compared with control (33.3%, 17/51, P=0.016). The troponin I was significantly lower (P=0.026) with reduced inotrope score (P=0.001) and lactate release (P=0.019) in postconditioned patients. The ventilation time was significantly reduced in postconditioned patients compared with control (14+/-15 h vs. 25+/-28 h, P=0.024). There was a significant decrease in the ICU stay in the postconditioned patients (P=0.048). The study suggests that ischemic postconditioning may provide clinical benefits with respect to the morbidity, ventilation time, ICU stay, requirement of inotrope in patients undergoing repair for tetralogy of Fallot.

The column chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC were used to separate and purify the compounds from the EtOAc extract of medium and MeOH extract of cell cultures of Morus alba. Eight compounds were isolated. Based on physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data, their structures were identified as isobavachalcone (1), genistein (2), norartocarpetin (3), albanin A (4), guangsangon E (5), mulberrofuran F (6), chalcomoracin (7), kuwanon J (8). Compounds 3-6 were isolated from the cell cultures of M. alba for the first time.

Ten compounds were isolated and purified from cell suspension cultures of Cudrania tricuspidata with silica-gel column chromatography, semi-preparative HPLC and Sephadex LH-20. On the base of their physicochemical properties and spectral data, their structures were identified as 1, 3, 5-trihydroxy4-(3, 3-dimethylallyl) xanthone (1), wighteone (2), 6-prenylapigenin (3), licoflavone C(4), cudraflavanone C(5), erythrivarone A (6), derrone (7), carthamidin (8), genistein (9) and aromadendrin (10). Among them, compounds 2-10 were flavonoids, and compound 1 was a xanthone which was isolated from the plant for the first time.

Implementing clinical trials with large multicenter samples is an important way to scientifically evaluate and demonstrate the curative effect of moxibustion. At present, clinical trials on moxibustion with large multicenter samples are prospering in China. It is necessary for research units to have good research professionals and technical platforms as well as a highly standardized and scientifically feasible methodology of research. Taking tasks in the ongoing national 973 project and in the sci-tech support program of the "11th 5-year plan", for example, this research captures the characteristics of moxibustion, carries out deep analysis and introduces specific methods and the important significance of clinical research tasks on moxibustion in designing multicenter plans, implementing experiments, supervising quality and strengthening compliance.

Three fluorescent probes CdABA, CdABA and ZnABA, which are structural isomers of ZnABA, have been designed with N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl) ethylenediamine (BPEA) as chelator and 2-aminobenzamide as fluorophore. These probes can be divided into two groups: CdABA, CdABA for Cd(2+) and ZnABA, ZnABA for Zn(2+). Although there is little difference in their chemical structures, the two groups of probes exhibit totally different fluorescence properties for preference of Zn(2+) or Cd(2+). In the group of Zn(2+) probes, ZnABA/ZnABA distinguish Zn(2+) from Cd(2+) with F(Zn)(2+)-F(Cd)(2+) = 1.87-2.00. Upon interchanging the BPEA and carbamoyl groups on the aromatic ring of the fluorophore, the structures of ZnABA/ZnABA are converted into CdABA/CdABA. Interestingly, the metal ions selectivity of CdABA/CdABA was switched to discriminate Cd(2+) from Zn(2+) with F(Cd)(2+)-F(Zn)(2+) = 2.27-2.36, indicating that a small structural modification could lead to a remarkable change of the metal ion selectivity. (1)H NMR titration and ESI mass experiments demonstrated that these fluorescent probers exhibited different coordination modes for Zn(2+) and Cd(2+). With CdABA as an example, generally, upon addition of Cd(2+), the fluorescence response possesses PET pathway to display no obvious shift of maximum ?(em) in the absence or presence of Cd(2+). However, an ICT pathway could be employed after adding Zn(2+) into the CdABA solution, resulting in a distinct red-shift of maximal ?(em).

In these cases, our algorithms are trying their best to display videos with relevant content, which can sometimes result in matched videos with only a slight relation.
