Christina A. Watts

Christina A. Watts is a doctoral candidate studying Cellular and Molecular Biology in the School of Biomedical Sciences at Kent State University in Kent, OH. She received her undergraduate degree from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, where she majored in Biology.

Under the advisement of Dr. Colleen Novak, Christina has opened a new avenue to addressing the labs' interest in skeletal muscle thermogenesis, utilizing the combination of transgenic mice and designer receptors exclusively activated by designer drugs (DREADDs). Christina’s work seeks to understand underlying brain mechanisms associated with thermogenic shifts manifested from exposure to predator odor.
